Abstract

The clinical diagnosis of rabies is one of the most difficult and important requirement to prevent the inadvertent transmission of rabies to handlers. Medical tests have recently shown that specially trained dogs are capable of detecting certain types of tumors, the beginning of heart seizure, terminal stages of cancer and certain bacterial diseases in humans. Canine olfactory perception test was employed to diagnose rabies. Thirty suspected animals were subjected to this test and identified 15 animals. All identified animals died within 7–10 days and history of bite of rabid dogs matched with the findings of COPT.
