Abstract

Caesarean section were carried out in twelve cows with dystocia and were divided in two equal groups. In group I, the drainage of peritoneal and uterine fluid was carried out in routine manner; whereas in group II, suction pump was used for drainage of peritoneal and uterine fluid. The caesarean section was carried out by restraining animals on right lateral recumbency. The animals were premedicated with Triflupromazine hydrochloride and were successfully operated under local infiltration analgesia using left ventro-lateral oblique incision. The peritoneal and uterine fluid was drained with the help of suction pump in group II animals. In the present study, the left ventrolateral oblique approach for caesarean section was observed suitable with advantages and few disadvantages. The suction pump advocated in present study for drainage of peritoneal and uterine fluid was found satisfactory and helpful in controlling the complications like peritonitis.
