The study was conducted on eighteen caprines of 2–4 years of age and reported with history of accidental feeding of excessive amount of wheat and rice, anorexia, abdominal distention and passing yellow coloured loose faeces. Clinical examination revealed sub-normal body temperature, increased respiration rate, increased heart rate, pulse rate and CRT. Physical examination of rumen revealed atony and tympany. Auscultation and percussion revealed fluid splashing sound in left para lumbar fossa. Ruminal fluid analysis revealed dark brown colour, acidity with pH ranging between 4–5 and no protozoal activity on microscopic examination. Gram's staining revealed dominancy of gram positive organism. The cases were diagnosed as ruminal acidosis on the basis of co-relating history, clinical findings and ruminal fluid examination. All animals were treated with Antihistaminics, Vitamin B-complex, 5% Sodium bicarbonate, Normal saline, Ringers Lactate, synbiotics and rumen buffers. Out of the eighteen (18) animals, sixteen (16) (88.88 percent) animals completely recovered after four days of therapy and two (11.11 percent) animals died after first day of therapy. So 88.88 percent animals recovered after four days of therapy.
