The study was conducted on fifty one (51) cattle to evaluate the hematological, biochemical and histopathological changes due to hepatic jaundice. The hematological changes observed included non-significant increase in hemoglobin and packed cell volume values along with significant increase in total erythrocyte, total leucocyte count and blood clotting time as compared to control. Biochemical analysis revealed significant increase in total, direct and indirect bilirubin. The plasma samples from affected cattle were positive for biphasic Van den Bergh reaction indicating hepatic damage. Urine analysis revealed bilirubinuria, proteinuria and presence of variable levels of urobilinogen. The gross post-mortem changes observed were icterus and hepatomegaly with yellowish orange discoloration. Histopathological examination revealed diffused hepatocellular vacuolar degeneration along with bile retention, extensive periductular/interlobular fibrosis and renal tubular degeneration. The characteristic hemato-biochemical, gross post-mortem and histopathological changes confirmed hepatic jaundice.
