Diagnosis and Management of Hepatic Jaundice due to Lantana camara Ingestion in a Bull

A bull was presented with history of ingestion of Lantana camara and clinical signs of fever, anorexia, decreased water intake and dark yellow urine and pelleted faeces. Mucus membrane was congested with slightly swollen lymph nodes. Serum total bilirubin, creatinine and BUN revealed alleviated values. On the basis of clinical signs and biochemical observations, hepatic jaundice was diagnosed. The animal was treated for jaundice for next five days and there was gradual improvement in feed and water intake as well as faecal consistency. The animal showed consistant improvement on fifth day with normal mucus membrane.
