Ten bitches with pyometra (6 open and 4 closed) were assessed for hematological and serum biochemical alterations. Tentative diagnosis was based on history, clinical signs and abdominal palpation. Ultrasonography/radiography or both aided in confirmative diagnosis. Hematology and biochemical parameters were recorded in both types of pyometra. Hematological and biochemical changes were more marked in closed pyometra. Hemato-biochemical evaluation facilitated prognostic prediction in pyometra affected bitches.
