Ten blood samples from dogs with sudden illness, anorexia, pale mucous membranes were presented for evaluation of complete blood picture. Upon clinico-pathological studies, all dogs showed anemia and abnormal increase in leucocyte count. Blood smear examination showed characteristic features of lymphoid, myeloid and monocytic myeloid leukemia. Thus blood smear examination can also aid in early diagnosis of leukemia in canines.
