Abstract

The study was aimed to test the efficacy of point of care cardiac troponin-I analyzer to differentiate between acute cardiogenic and non-cardiogenic respiratory distress. Twenty eight dogs were included in the study, Eighteen dogs having heart failure and ten dogs were healthy normal for control cohort. Cardiac troponin-I were measured in all dogs including ten dogs with non-cardiogenic respiratory distress. Cardiac troponin-I concentration increased as the severity of signs increased. CTnI concentrations were higher in dogs with cardiogenic respiratory distress in comparison to non-cardiogenic respiratory disease.
