The study was undertaken in Holstein Friesian crossbred dairy cows (n=16) in late gestation. The cows were divided into two equal groups of eight animals each. Group-1 was administered with four doses of Levamisole on 35, 28, 21 and 14th day prior to parturition and Group-2 was control. Colostrum and blood samples were collected from both groups on calving day for colostrum and calving day as well as 28th day in milking for blood and analysed. Evaluation revealed significantly (P<0.05) lower plasma Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and higher Glutathione peroxidase (GPx), Glutathione S transferase (GST) and Superoxide dismutase enzyme (SOD) activity in Levamisole treated group as compared to control group. Serum and colostrum total Ig levels in Levamisole treated groups were significantly (P<0.05) higher as compared to control groups. The study concluded that Levamisole therapy during late dry period has positive effect on immunity in dairy cows.
