Abstract

The study evaluates the efficacy of Ovsynch and double PG protocols in post-partum anestrous graded Murrah buffaloes. Based on history and per rectal palpation twice at ten days interval, 12 post-partum anestrous buffaloes were selected for estrus induction using Ovsynch and double PG protocols. These animals were randomly divided into two groups: Group I: Ovsynch (n=6), Group II: Double PG (n=6). Before initiation of treatment, blood samples were collected for serum calcium and phosphorus estimation. A non significant difference was recorded regarding estrous response while conception rate was higher in Group I (50 percent) than in Group II (33.3 percent). Furthermore, no significant difference was recorded in serum calcium and phosphorus levels.
