The study was aimed to determine the sedative and analgesic effect of Romifidine and its combination with Ketamine in bovine calves. Three groups consisting of six bovine calves in each groups received Romifidine intramuscularly @ 20 μg/kg and 40 μg/kg respectively and third group received Romifidine @ 40 μg/kg along with combination of Ketamine @ 2 mg/kg intramuscularly. Clinical and physiological alterations were recorded at 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, and 90 minutes of Romifidine or Romifidine and Ketamine administration. Romifidine produced dose dependent effects in degree and duration of sedation and analgesia. It could be concluded that Romifidine @ 40 μg/kg b wt. along with Ketamine 2mg/kg in calf produced moderate sedation and muscle relaxation permitting minor surgical procedures. The combination can be suggested for clinical use in bovine.
