The study evaluates efficacy of Fenbendazole and Ivermectin against horse strongyles using in vitro techniques. The in-vitro egg hatch assay (EHA) revealed ED50 value of 0.1328±0.0216 μg/ml and LD50 LCL-UCL of 0.0793-0.1953 μg/ml for Fenbendazole. LD50 value was higher than 0.1μg/ml indicating presence of resistance to Fenbendazole in farm horses. Larval development test (LDA) of strongyle eggs with Fenbendazole and Ivermectin showed LD50 values of 0.127±0.0191μg/ ml (LD50 LCL-0.085μg/ml and LD50 UCL-0.177 μg/ml) and LD50 values of 0.0012±0.0002 μg/ml (LD50 LCL-0.0008 μg/ml and LD50 UCL-0.0018 μg/ml) respectively. It was concluded that strongyles had developed resistance to Fenbendazole and Ivermectin was fairly effective.
