Strongylosis induced anemia and its management along with blood transfusion in a Pony

Abstract

A pony was reported with history of dullness and limb edema. Clinical examination revealed enteritis and edematous legs. Fecal examination showed presence of Strongyle eggs. Anemia and hypoproteinemia were detected hemato- biochemical examination. Pony was treated with Ivermectin followed by blood transfusion. Animal showed remarkable improvement and recovery following therapy.
