A mare was presented with history of convulsions along with inappetance, drowsiness, severe sweating, yellowish urine, swollen limbs and unable to walk normally. Clinical examination revealed pyrexia, severe icteric mucus membranes and swollen fetlock region of posterior limbs. Whole blood, serum as well as blood smear was evaluated. Clinical observations and blood smear examination confirmed Trypanosoma evansi. The animal was instituted with two dose of Diaminazene aceturate injection along with supportive treatment. Neurological clinical signs and icteric mucous membrane completely subsided after two weeks of therapy. The animal recovered uneventfully.
