A horse was presented with history of lameness. Clinical examination revealed exudation, hair matting folliculitis and crusting in pastern region of hoof. Skin scrapping was found to be negative. Tape impression smear with cotton phenol blue stain revealed presence of Trichophyton equinum organisms and culture confirmed Staphylococcus aureus. The case was diagnosed as Equine pastern dermatitis due to fungal infection with concurrent secondary bacterial infection. Animal was treated with parenteral Streptopenicillin, Chlorphenaramine maleate and Miconazole shampoo. Animal recovered completely after twenty days.
