Abstract

A bullock was reported after accidental ingestion of jute (Crotalaria) seeds and history of restlessness, abdominal pain, diarrhea as well as death of one companion bullock with similar symptoms. The animal was found to be anorectic, showing high fever, evincing abdominal pain, kicking its abdomen, restlessness, alternative shifting of its legs and passing loose faeces with blood clots. Few undigested jute seeds in dung were observed, indicating accidental ingestion induced intoxication. Bullock was treated symptomatically to evade the clinical signs and recovered uneventfully.
