The present study was conducted on 118 clinical cases of theileriosis recorded in cattle. The common clinical signs observed were anorexia, weakness, variable rise in body temperature, tachycardia, rapid breathing, pale to papery white mucous membranes, loss of body weight and jaundice in sub-acute cases. Hematological examination revealed lowered Hemoglobin, PCV, TEC and platelet counts. The examination of Giemsa stained blood smears revealed presence of Theileria sp. organisms alone in 107 (77.54 percent) cases and mixed infection of Theileria and Anaplasma spp. in 11 (7.97 percent) cattle. The cattle suffering from theileriosis alone were treated with single dose of Buparvaquone and Furosemide combination @ 1 ml/20 kg b. wt. IM whereas clinical cases of mixed infections (Theileria and Anaplasma spp.) were treated with Buparvaquone plus Furosemide combination @ 1 ml/20 kg IM and Oxytetracycline @ 10 mg/kg diluted in 1 liter D5 intravenously for five days as combination therapy. The supportive therapy included Dextrose 25 percent @ 1 lit. slow IV for three days, Meloxicam and Paracetamol combination @ 0.5 mg/kg IM single dose (if required) B-complex @ 10 ml IM daily for seven days and Ferrous fumerate bolus @ 1 PO BID daily for twenty days. The treatment proved effective in management of theileriosis alone and mixed infection of Theileria and Anaplasma spp.
