Management of Post-Partum Uterine Prolapse in Caprines -A Report of Three Does

Three does were presented with post-partum uterine prolapse with averted uterus hanging from vagina. All does were represented within six hours following parturition. The averted organ was carefully assessed and gross debris removed by washing with dilute chlorhexidine solution. Epidural anesthesia was achieved using 2% Lignocaine hcl solution. The prolapsed uterus was replaced and simple interrupted retention suture was placed on vulva to prevent relapse. Antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and vitamin supplements were provided. The sutures were removed on sixth day. There was no recurrence and all does recovered uneventfully.
