Abstract

The communication describes therapeutic management of Babesiosis in a dog. Dog was diagnosed to be suffering from babesiosis on basis of clinical symptoms, hematological alterations and microscopic examination of freshly prepared stained blood smears. Typical large form of piroplasm was observed under microscope of Babesia canis. Dog was treated with Imidocarb dipropionate @ 6.6mg/kg intramuscularly single shot once along with Methylcobalamin intramuscularly. Doxycycline, hematinics and liver tonic was advised for twenty one days. Hematological and microscopic examination was repeated at 5th and 15th days. Dog showed recovery with increase in hemoglobin and remission of clinical signs.
