Abstract

The study was outlined to identify sub-clinical metabolic disorders in lactating stage and undertaken in 50 lactating crossbred Jersey cattle within the age group of 3–7 years. Non-pregnant, lactating, apparently healthy and stall-fed cattle with regular deworming and vaccination against common diseases were selected for sampling. Metabolic profile particularly glucose (11.64±0.86) was found significantly (P<0.05) low. This suggests that cross Jersey cattle were prone to hypoglycemia related metabolic disorders like ketosis. Similarly, calcium was also lower than the standard value. Therefore, it seems essential to provide proper feed supplements to correct the underlying sub-clinical metabolic disorders.
