Abstract

Twenty six per cent of dog owners got advice from Veterinarian regarding the feeding practices to be followed for their dogs. Fully cooked milk, chapatti, roti, egg, meat along with vegetables, curd and fruits were fed twice daily for adult dogs. About half of the dog owners were feeding their pet dogs with vitamin and mineral supplements along with bones to chew. Nearly forty per cent of the respondents added common salt to their dog’s diet. Only one-third of dog owners are feeding commercially available dog foods to their dogs. Hence, there is large scope for creating awareness regarding scientific feeding and also for the commercially available dog foods in Jaipur.
