The technique of aspiration consisted of inserting a fine needle into the prostate transrectally and aspirating cells with syringe. The material in the needle is expressed on glass slide and smears are prepared. Wet fixation in 95% alcohol and staining with haematoxylin eosin or papnicolou stain. Cytology of prostate appeared to have various applications. Procedure was found to be simple, rapid and convenient.
