Abstract

‘Rural Libraries Survey’ is an attempt to make a realistic study of the existing conditions of school libraries in Rural Karnataka. As a background of the study, information on the physiographic conditions, infrastructural facilities, communication facilities, mass communication facilities, the socio-economic conditions of the rural population, educational facilities and access to resources including libraries, computers and Internet etc., have been collected and analysed. Generally it is found that the schools in villages do not enjoy the facilities of having good libraries, computers and other ICTs.
