Analyses the employers’ expectations of library and information professionals reflected through job descriptions released in the form of 645 job postings on LIS Forum from 1st January 2007 to 31st December 2009 The results indicate that computer and communication skills are required and that an additional qualification along with MLISc is being preferred. At the same time a large number of job postings do not reveal necessary information required for the post. The paper concludes that for an effective recruitment of LIS professionals and better understanding between the employers, the job seekers, and LIS schools, the policy makers on Human Resources Development, job postings or the advertisements should carry all the relevant information that is required for that post.
