Abstract

This study looks at the importance of classification in the present digital environment with special reference to collection of books and multimedia materials in the field of linguistics and in multiple Indian languages. Based on our experience, suggest improvements in the existing classification schemes, especially the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC). Discusses online classification issues. The added descriptors can be adapted to other classification systems.
