A bibliometric study of IETE journal of research: 2008–2012

Abstract

Analyses different bibliometric features of IETE Journal of Research, an official publication of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), for the period 2008–2012. Results show that average number of articles published per volume is 60; the highest ratio of single and multiple authorship paper is 1: 11; 69.46% articles are written by Indian authors, 29.19% by foreign authors and only 1.35% by both Indian and foreign author jointly. On average around 14 references were used per article, which is the citation potential of the journal. Majority of the references are journal articles (57.68%). The ratio of author self citations to total citations is 1:12 and journal self citation is very low. Nearly 7 pages are used per article. Shiban K. Koul, the leading contributor has contributed the highest number of articles (33) during 2008–2012. The largest number of acknowledgements per article is 3 in 2008, and the lowest number per article is approximately 2 in 2009. Mostly acknowledgements relate to financial support (32%).
