This paper discusses the experience in developing an open, flexible, and cost-effective e-journal gateway for libraries that subscribe to multiple e-journals or e-journals databases. The system is developed using tools like WinISIS and GenIsisWeb, supported by UNESCO and BIREME. Its model is developed at Central Library of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram for its e-journals management. This concept can be expanded as an open national e-journals gateway, in which different libraries are subscribing to different e-journals databases from different vendors either individually or as part of library consortia. This paper also discusses the technology used, its advantages and features.
