Abstract

This series of Notes on CC are intended to assist students and new users of CC in understanding some of the changes incorporated in CC, ed. 7 and its current revisions. Between 1962 and 1972 there have been several new developments relating to Freely-faceted classification. Most of these have been reported in papers contributed to the DRTC Seminar (1962-) volumes and Library Science with a slant to Documentation…(1963-). Many of the changes affecting the use of CC in practice have also been incorporated in S.R. Ranganathan's Prolegomena to Library Classification, ed. 3, 1967. The changes have been necessitated to implement the findings of studies on The structure and development in the universe of subjects and classification of micro-documents. Most of new features are also applicable for the classication of macro documents.
