Mentions the different views on and representation of hierarchy with examples in various disciplines and indicates how these are implemented in Colon Classification (CC). Enumerates some guidelines for the formation of hierarchies and arrangement of entities within a hierarchy. Two additional principles for arrangement, namely, Principle of Emergent Whole and Principle of Succession of Events/Processes are suggested for use. The position of the observer needs to be noted for the correct interpretation of certain sequences of entities, especially when applying Principles of Spatial Sequence.
