Postulational Approach to Classifying Documents: Use of Satsan Auto-Matrix Version 1 - Program for Synthesis of Colon Class Number

The software SATSAN AUTO-MATRIX version 1 is an improvement over SATSAN MATRIX reported on earlier. The present Auto-Matrix version 1 gives the user more facilities to achieve freely facetted analysis preparatory to synthesizing Colon Classification (CC) number. The paper briefly describes an integrated computer aided method of arriving at CC number, keeping the nuances in Postulational Approach to classify documents. The steps of the Postulational Approach are conformed to in deriving the class number beginning with the Raw Title of a document. Other features such as searching Titles in Subject Index for composing Class Number, Maintenance of Subject Index database, reading Subject Index database records as a part of Reference Service for retrieval of micro-subjects for specialist users, Facet formula and maintenance of Colon Classification schedules and their indexes are also provided for.
