The paper examines some basic issues concerning the bibliographic organization and control of digital resources and briefly discusses the approaches that the information profession has adopted in this regard. IFLA's ISBD (ER) recognizes different kinds of digital resources, including Optical Disc, Home Page, Web Page, Interactive Video Disc, and WWW site. A report published by OCLC some years ago gives an idea of the range of material found on the Internet. Digital resources may be grouped into hand-held digital resources and Internet resources. This approach is based on the fact that hand-held digital resources (e.g. a CD-ROM) are tangible and form part of a document collection of an information institution and therefore are closer to the sort of materialslibraries and national bibliographic agencies have always acquired, processed and provided access to.
