Stephen Hacking is one of the best-known scientists of the last half-century. His contributions to the physics of gravity are extremely significant. He has traveled far on the path that Einstein blazed and he is a worthy successor. While his eminence as a scientist is well reserved, we should recognize that his reputation arises, to a great extent, from his courage, perseverance and struggle, and his sense of humor in the face of his extreme adverse conditions in his life. He was able to overcome such fiercely painful obstacles is an astounding testament to the power and resilience of the human spirit. Stephen hawking deserved all the adulation we gave him and all the reputation he received in his intellectual life.
