Internet use in cyber Cafés in indian cities

Abstract

The study maps the use of Internet at cybercafes of Indian City by public with regard to Internet search knowledge and skills. Problems encountered by public while using Internet at cybercafes are also discussed. Survey method was employed for the study. The studyfinds that gender had an impact on the experience (p<.000) and frequency (p<.000) in the use of Internet. While 48.68% of male respondents used Internet for entertainment,79.19% of female respondents used it for study/research (p<.000). Google was the leading search engines. Public acquired Internet search knowledge and skills with the helpof friends/colleagues (83.41%), trial and error method (58.65%) and computer centers (50.72%).
