Numerous new subject fields hitherto not envisaged are emerging. Freely faceted classification schemes have become essential in the traditional and web based knowledge organization and retrieval. DDC is the most widely used classification system in the world. So the author attempts to restructure DDC as a freely faceted scheme. Library and Information Science is taken as the sample.
