Regional Studies is research on a limited geographical area marked by geographical, cultural or other factors. It generally concentrates on the local community. But it takes into cognizance both plurality and the principle of interdependence and interrelationship. Regional Studies is to be based on a wide variety of documentary evidence which tends to be informal, and in media and formats difficult to to collect and organize. For supporting regional studies documentation of significant occurrences in the past and oral histories are very important. But hitherto facilities for collecting, conserving, organizing and making them accessdible was very difficult due lack of availalbiliity of facilites and technology at teh regional level. Now ICT makes available the tools and techniques for documentation at regional level very much like that available in any topmost educational or research organization. Now any small local organization can document the knowledge related to the region and generate catalogues and publications related to the particular area as per international standards and make them available at national or international level.
