Job Satisfaction Among Library and Information Service Professionals of Academic Libraries

Abstract

The study measures the level of professional satisfaction of librarians in India and how the work facets contribute to it. The aspects examined are working environment, job contentment with regard to the factors like job security, promotion, employee recognition, the relations with superiors and colleagues, economic benefits available, and the impact of technologies on work procedures. Survey with a questionnaire adopting 14 variables on a five-point scale based on Likert’s scale, narrowed down to three scales during analysis have been used for ascertaining the professional contentment involving 650 academic librarians representing Central, State, Deemed and private university libraries in India.
