Abstract

Attempts to investigate the scholarly communication in the Journal of the American Society for Horticultural Science (JASHS). Identifies the key dimensions of its publication trends. Essential bibliometric measures are applied to analyse different publication parameters. The study analyzed 594 research articles and observes that on an average 59 research articles have been published every year. Multi-authored articles are more in number followed by single-authored articles. The average degree of collaboration in JASHS is 0.99. Lotka’s law is tested and confers to a value of n=2.88. During the period 26,027 citations have been appended to 594 articles. Journals (86.53 percent) are mainly preferred sources used by authors followed by books (6.53 percent). Ranked list of prolific authors, Institutions/Organizations and journals are presented. Bingru Huang has topped the ranked list of profolic authors with 29 articles. The University of Florida has 121 top ranked Institutions/Organizations. The journal has topped the ranked list of journals with 1095 (4.86 percent) citations. The USA has topped the list of ranking of country productivity with 1098 (39.97 percent) contributions.
