Abstract

Water is a vital input for crop production. There are mainly three methods of water application to the crops, out of which drip/micro irrigation method is most efficient and productive. Drip Irrigation provides advantages such as substantial yield increase, huge water savings, Higher Water productivity and higher Water Use Efficiency apart from higher fertilizer use efficiency, use of undulating terrain, maintenance of soil health and reduced input costs. The Overall Efficiency of integrated micro Irrigation Project is very high as compared to any other combination. This results in to higher water productivity and higher Water Use Efficiency, which is explained further in this paper.
