The Eocene coal of Bapung coal field shows low concentration of trace elements. Elements such as Pb, Cu, Ni, Cr and Zn are concentrated in the inorganic fraction of the coal while Mg is concentrated in the organic fraction. Concentration of the elements Cu, Ni and Zn indicates marine influence in the depositional environment.
