Abstract

The Podile granites are leucocratic, biotite-granite and occur as an intrusive within the Nellore Schist Belt, covering an area of 40 sq.km. Geochemically, these granites are alkaline in nature with (K2O+Na2O >7%), high Rb (av.279 ppm), Zn (av.115 ppm), Ba(av. 198.82),Zr (av.324.53 ppm), Y (av.109.64 ppm), F (upto 2800 ppm) and low in Ca, Ti and P. The granites are normal to strongly differentiated, peraluminous to peralkaline types, Within Plate Granite, A type granite and based on Y/Nb ratios they belong to A1 A type (mantle origin). The halogen F had acted as the complexing agent responsible for the transport of elements in an aqueous phase and their enrichment in the granites.
