Group-A rotaviruses are major causative agents of diarrhea in calves (under 1 month age) causing increased mortality in local cattle herds. 127 diarrheic fecal samples and 63 non diarrheic were collected from dairy farms of Mathura, India. 19 samples out of 127 diarrheic samples were found positive for rotaviruses by RNA-Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (RNA PAGE). Depending on migration of 10th and 11th segments, 2 were of short pattern and remaining 17 were of long pattern. Male calves were more affected than female calves and majority were from first 4 weeks of age. None of the samples were positive from non-diarrheic fecal samples.
