Marine algae are a promising group of organism in the marine environment and comprising a rich source of functional ingredients. Tremendous biodiversity of the marine microalgae have given a wide acceptance for the exploration of proteins and derivatives. Importantly, bioactive peptides showed a great deal of attraction for the development of recent biotechnological strategies. Moreover, the identified bioactivities of microalgae peptides might act as a potential candidate for future pharmacological and neutraceutical applications. Therefore, cultivation, extraction, isolation and characterization of functional ingredients from marine algae will be the key research area in the future biotechnology.
