Due rapid automobiles intensifications, waste tyres are a major concern for the ecosystem and life-cycle of tyre industry. In the present review, utilization of waste tyre as an energy source has been explored and discussed. Generally, waste tyres are transformed into pyrolysis oil, black carbon, syn-gases and so on. Pyrolysis oil and pyrolysis gas are potential sources of alternative fuel in I C Engines and boiler furnaces. Pyrolysis oil has similar physico-chemical properties like CI engine fuel after refining and distillations. So it may mitigate the carbon footprint and will support the fuel supply line to some extent. Along with it is possibly utilised as a source of burning of char, road and civ il infrastructure. So the waste tyres are a potential source of energy after proper conversion.
