Abstract

In this experiment, first, the biodiesel has been produced from waste cooking oil through the process of transesterification. Then several tests like FTIR, Viscosity, calorific value, density, flash point, and fire point tests have been performed on this Bio-diesel and the results have been recorded. Then this Biodiesel has been blended with conventional diesel (D100) in the concentrations B10 (90% Diesel and 10% Biodiesel) and B20 (80% Diesel and 20% Biodiesel). These blends have been used separately in the boiler and their performance has been monitored in each instance. The plant efficiency vs load, load vs brake power and BSFC vs Biodiesel blends (B10 B20) graphs have been plotted in each case. The concentration of the emissions was tested with a gas analyzer and it is observed that the pollutants like HC, NOx, and CO are progressively low for B10 and B20 blends compared to conventional diesel. The cost analysis of manufacturing Bio-diesel has been done and found to be comparatively far lower than the conventional diesel.
