Supporting factors for the implementation of lean — a study on manufacturing firms

Abstract

Manufactures are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of modern management philosophy in providing them with a competitive advantage. The present study conducted a survey on nine export oriented garment firms through semi-structured questionnaire. Companies were selected using purposive sampling technique. The main objective of this research is to examine the practice of various lean tools in the Bangladesh garment manufacturing firms. It also focuses on the supporting factors for practicing lean successfully, The research finding indicate that the selected companies have adopted a wide variety of lean tools and technique and have support of associated factors for implementing lean. It concludes with recommendation for further work.
