The prenatal gross and biometric studies on the mammary glands of 63 foetuses (43 female & 20 male) were carried out at different phases of their intrauterine development ranging from 65 to 305 days (8.0 to 102.5 cm CVRL). The female foetuses were divided into four different groups viz., 65 to 73 days (8.0 to 10 cm CVRL, Group-I), 78 to 93 days (10.9 to 14.3 cm CVRL, Group-II),102 to 191 days (16.3 to 52.1 cm CVRL, Group-III) and 210 to 305 days (60.5 to 102.5 cm CVRL, Group-TV). The male foetuses were not divided into different groups. Their age was ranging between 73 to 303 days (10 cm CVRL to 101.8 cm CVRL). The arrangements of the teats in the female mammary glands were in a square pattern while that in a male was linear curved arc. The mean values of distance between various teats in the male and female foetuses are described in detail.
