In present study 18 advanced pregnant cows (9 Gir x Jersey & Gir x HF and 9 Gir) were selected three weeks prior to expected date of calving by referring parturition expectation chart. The serum calcium and phosphorus was estimated at weekly intervals starting from 3 weeks before expected calving and up to 8 weeks after calving. Monitoring of uterine involution was done by per rectal palpation at weekly interval and postpartum oestrus was detected by using caudectomised bull. 12 cows (66.66%) out of 18 exhibited first postpartum oestrus within eight weeks from calving. The serum calcium levels during postpartum period were increasing gradually; on the day of oestrous it was highest. In serum phosphorus levels no difference was noted during anti-partum, partum and postpartum period.
