Pregnancy diagnosis was carried out first on 14th day (post covering) in thoroughbred mares by ultrasound machine. The pregnancy was suspected by observing the yolk sac as spherical anechoic embryonic vesicle in the uterus. The diagnosis of pregnancy was confirmed with certainty by observing embryonic vesicle on 14th, 18th, 24th, 28th 36th, 45th, 60th day of post ovulation (covering). Simultaneously, the embryonic vesicle diameters were recorded. Embryo size was recorded on 24th, 28th, 36th, 45th and 60th day of post cover. The embryonic vesicle size was 16.83 ± 4.31, 28.04 ± 3.66, 28.70 ± 3.99, 31.83 ± 4.51, 49.91 ± 5.60, 64.66 ± 5.98 and 102 ± 12.61 mm, on day 14,18, 24, 28, 36, 45 and 60 of gestation, respectively. The embryonic vesicle grew 11.21, 0.66, 3.13, 18.08, 14.75 and 37.34 mm from day 14–18, 18–24, 24–28, 28–36, 36–45 and 45–60, respectively. Embryonic vesicle from day 18 to 24 grew marginally at the rate of 0.11 mm/day. Embryo size was 7.6 ± 1.64, 11.25 ± 1.51, 20.29 ± 3.48, 29.54 ± 4.20, 52.25 ± 9.73 mm on day 24, 28, 36, 45 and 60 of gestation,respectively. Pregnancy diagnosis was 100% accurate on 14th day of gestation.
