Abstract

The low grade uterine infection is one of the major etiological factors, for the repeat breeding syndrome in cows. The excessive use of antibiotics like gentamicin and oxytetracyclin in intrauterine therapy has developed resistance in pathogen against these antibiotics. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to observe the effect of enrofloxacin in combination with metronidazole on pregnancy rate in infectious cases of repeat breeding cows. White side test was carried out to diagnose subclinical uterine infection in these cows. Cervical mucus of these cows was collected by tampon method and antibacterial sensitivity test was performed with the help of standard antibiotic disc. The samples sensitive for the Enrofloxacin were treated with enrofloxacin 1500 mg and metronidazole 100–150 mg intrauterine on day 1st, 8th and 15th of oestrus cycle. The conception rate in the present study was 62.5 per cent.
