In the present study the embryo culture technique developed by Zartman & Jaszczak (1980) was followed for one day embryos and a technique developed by Shoffner et al. (1967) was followed for three day incubated eggs with minor modification. Out of fifty five eggs taken for the study, 1 (1.81 per cent), 2 (3.63 per cent) and 2 (3.63 per cent) could not be processed due to loss during processing, infertility and unanalyzed cases, respectively. Metaphase spreads were successfully obtained in 94.33 per cent of fertile eggs. The overall success rate of embryo culture technique was 94.33 per cent indicated that the embryo culture technique may be highly suitable for cytogenetic studies in chicken.
